#44: Free Air
Paying for air at the gas station feels like one of modern life’s odd injustices. But there may be a workaround. Some gas station air compressors have a hidden override. Look for a small button—often located on the back or side of the machine—and press it three times. If you’re lucky, the machine will start without needing coins or tokens.
It doesn’t work at every station, but when it does, it’s a lifesaver. Whether your tire’s low or your change jar is empty, this trick is worth keeping in mind. It’s one of those small secrets that can make a big difference when you’re in a bind. Just use it responsibly—and maybe pay it forward by letting someone else in on the trick.
