#14: This Is Why I Don’t Like Camping
As a child, one camper was haunted by a story their father made up on a family trip. It featured a terrifying black dog that stalked people in the woods, and it had them trembling in their sleeping bag all night. Years later, they returned to the forest as an adult and found themselves alone at a campsite late at night. That’s when they heard growling just outside their tent.
The sound was too close and too real. Frozen with fear, they waited it out until morning. When they stepped outside, there were large paw prints circling the tent. No other campers were nearby, and the rangers confirmed there hadn’t been reports of wild dogs in the area. Whether it was coincidence or the past coming back to haunt them, it was enough to end their love of the outdoors for good. Sometimes, stories find a way to come true.
