Travel back to 1903 when the Times Square building was under construction, marking a marvel of its era. In 1896, newspaper publisher Adolph Ochs acquired ‘The New York Times,’ in 1902, he embarked on the monumental task of relocating the headquarters from Lower Manhattan to Midtown Manhattan, requiring the purchase of new land.
Construction of this ambitious project commenced in 1902 but faced numerous challenges, including worker strikes and unpredictable weather, leading to a delay of 299 days in its completion. Today, the building has undergone significant transformations and stands as an iconic presence in the heart of Times Square.
