Losing a loved one, especially an immediate family member, is an incredibly challenging experience that can take a long time to heal from. With the support of family, friends, and colleagues, the grieving process may become more manageable over time.
It’s disheartening to imagine how difficult it must be to say goodbye to one’s daughter. It should be a given that one’s manager, aware of the situation, exercises sensitivity and compassion. Making insensitive comments about such a delicate subject is both callous and unnecessary. The void left by the loss of a child cannot be filled by having another child, and employers must recognize the emotional toll such events can have on their employees.
