Outdated Home Remedies
Numerous home remedies purported to treat various ailments have been handed down through generations, yet some of these remedies should have remained relics of the past. Contrary to popular belief, applying butter to a burn is not only ineffective but can exacerbate the injury. Butter lacks medicinal properties that are conducive to healing, and its moisture-retaining nature may trap heat, worsening the burn and potentially leading to infection.
The appropriate first aid response to a burn involves promptly cooling the affected area with cold, running water for at least 10-20 minutes to alleviate pain and mitigate further tissue damage. Following this, applying a clean, sterile dressing can shield the burn from infection. Relying on old-fashioned remedies like butter can inadvertently result in more harm than good.
